I visited the Tennessee River recently, despite the chilly weather. From a distance, I was excited to see a number of large, white swans on the river's surface. Upon further investigation, the birds were actually pelicans.
According to this news article from 2014, they're commonly spotted in Alabama now. Who knew! I counted around 30 pelicans in total.
They swing by where our sailboat is as well.......big, white and eating any small fish that moves :)
