New Officemate
After being gifted a 10 gallon tank, I decided to purchase a betta fish, named Fische! (Still pronounced "Fish" - but fancier?)
His tank is complete with a water heater (bettas prefer a bit warmer water) and plenty of fake plants.

Mysterious Creatures
I visited the Tennessee River recently, despite the chilly weather. From a distance, I was excited to see a number of large, white swans on the river's surface. Upon further investigation, the birds were actually pelicans.
According to this news article from 2014, they're commonly spotted in Alabama now. Who knew! I counted around 30 pelicans in total.
